Prayer Request

We returned to Japan January 15 after our daughter’s wedding. It was an uneventful trip for which we are grateful.

You may remember that Tim had a heart ablation last year. It was successful for about 7 hours. We understand that it is not uncommon to need a second one. Tim had an appointment with his doctor last week and as a result is scheduled for an ablation next week, Thursday, February 13 at 1:00. That would be Wednesday evening at 11:00 p.m. EST. Please pray that this surgery will be successful with long-term results. Thank you!

Wedding Plans and A New Convert!

It’s been a few weeks since we wrote an update.  A lot has been happening. First, on October 10, Kim flew back to the states to be with our daughter while she is planning her December 28 wedding. She has been busy with dress fittings, altering bridesmaid and flower girl dresses, attending showers and all the things that come before a wedding. Rachel and Kim are both very grateful to be able to be together during these special days.

On the day that Kim flew back to the States, Tim was meeting for Bible study with a young man that has been attending our church. During that time, he trusted Christ as his Saviour!  We are so thankful to see God working and bringing men to salvation. It is very rare to have a good base of men in the church in Japan. Please pray for spiritual growth for Mr. Y.

Tim is currently at a missionary men’s retreat in Okinawa. Pray that it will be an encouraging time for all the missionary men that are attending.

God is working!

We were thrilled to be able to add a couple to our membership this past Sunday. Before we voted on this couple, they each shared their testimony of salvation. This is always such an encouragement to the people and to us to hear how God brought them to salvation. God is at work seeking and rescuing the lost!

Kim had the opportunity a couple of weeks ago to travel to Kushiro, Hokkaido for a Baptist missionary women’s retreat. There were 18 women from all over Japan. It was a great time of encouragement for all that attended. She also enjoyed the much cooler temperatures than what we have been having in Nagoya.

Thank you for your prayers on our behalf. God is answering!

Update and a Prayer Request

We have been quite busy in September. Some days, it is hard to keep going with the excessive heat we have been having. Last week, our high one day was 100 with a heat index of 111! While running errands, I thought I might melt onto the pavement. I don’t remember a September, or a summer for that matter, that has been this hot for this long. I was told that last summer and this summer are ones for the record books!

We have a new young man that has started visiting the church. He is searching for answers and recently asked Tim what he needed to do to be saved. Tim will start meeting with him regularly for Bible study this week. Please pray for Mr. Y’s salvation. He also attended the Men’s Bible Fellowship this past Saturday. We were thankful for the good attendance at the fellowship. Seeing him mingling and talking with the men in the church is a blessing.

Tim always puts out a big breakfast. The men always enjoy that, and then they have a time of study in the Word. They finish with a time of prayer.

New Prayer Letter

The July/August 2024 prayer letter has been posted. You can read it here. We are sorry for the lack of updates since our last prayer letter. This current prayer letter is a good update for the summer. It has been a busy summer with guests and camp as well as our regular scheduled ministry activities. Thank you for your prayers!

Answered Prayer

Tim’s surgery was successful. They showed his brother and me exactly what they did on the computer screen. His heart is in regular rhythm right now. He should be able to come home Wednesday. Praise the Lord!!! Thank you for praying!

News from Japan

Kim arrived safely in Japan on May 15.  She has been resting and recovering from jet lag.  She will lead her first Ladies’ Bible Fellowship since her return on Saturday, June 8.

It has been a busy few weeks for Tim jumping back into the ministry and taking care of other things that need to be done since we have been away for furlough. He met with the cardiologist this week and scheduled his ablation for June 24. We appreciate your continued prayers for him.
